Digital Poverty Alliance

“The IET is delighted to be a founding partner of the Digital Poverty Alliance (DPA).

Our charitable objects, as set out in the IET’s Royal Charter, is ‘to promote the general advancement of science, engineering and technology and to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas on these subjects amongst the members of the IET and otherwise’.

Fundamental to this is engagement with children, in order to inspire and develop the engineers and technicians of tomorrow.

As we move more towards a digital future, it is vital we play our part in supporting those, in particular disadvantaged children and families, who do not have the digital means to access our STEM education initiatives and resources and are unable to engage with us and learn about the exciting opportunities a career in engineering and technology offers.

Tackling the digital divide is such an important task that no one organisation can do alone and will require a community of like-minded organisations and Government working together to bring an end to the digital divide.

The DPA provides a home and an opportunity to unite all the excellent work already being done, so together, we can tackle this issue once and for all.”
